The big movie hits in February can be found the weekend of Valentine’s Day. In terms of the month, the themes of the month are action/thriller, romance, and fantasy.
Opening the first weekend of the month is “Dear John” which is the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation starring Amanda Segfried (“Mamma Mia”) and Channing Tatum (“G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra”). Two words: Tear Jerker. “From Paris with Love” stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Travolta in what looks to be a hit or miss movie.
In my opinion the big hits of the month will be released during Valentine’s Day weekend. Those releases include “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” based on the best-selling series by Rick Riordan, “The Wolfman”, and “Valentine’s Day” which I like to call the Gary Marshall and ABC all-star cast.
Later in the month “Shutter Island” starring Leonardo DiCaprio will be released. The psychological thriller was directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese. For a bit of comedic relief, Kevin Smith’s latest film “Cop Out” will be released at the end of the month.
