Former American Idol Season 7 Alum, Carly Smithson, is the front woman for the new band Fallen. Smithson’s band mates include three of the original members of Evanescence – guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray. They are also joined by bassist Marty O’Brien. It seems like their band name is a metaphor for the “fallen” members of Evanescence. I guess we’ll find out their back story once their website launches. Their first single “Bury Me Alive” will be available as a free download on their official website this Monday, June 22, 2009.
How exciting! Carly Smithson has an amazing voice! I was really rooting for her when she was on American Idol, so I was definitely shocked when she had a 6th place finish. Ben Moody co-founded the Grammy-Award winning band Evanescence with Amy Lee but Moody left the band due to creative differences. Evanescence’s first studio album “Fallen” had a distinct sound and with Moody’s departure, I definitely noticed a change in the band’s sound but they still sounded great. Different, but still great! I think the combination of Smithson’s vocals with the seasoned Evanescence alumni will make Fallen a band worth listening to. I can’t wait to hear their debut single!

The Cast of NBC's Merlin - Photo courtesy of NBC.com
This Sunday, June 21, 2009, “Merlin” will be premiering on NBC at 8 p.m. EST. This rendition of “Merlin” will feature a young Merlin played by Colin Morgan as he discovers his destiny is intertwined with the future King of Camelot, Prince Arthur (Bradley James). Other cast members include: Anthony Head (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as King Uther, Richard Wilson as Gaius, Katie McGrath as Morgana, and Angel Coulby as Gwen. Tied into the premiere will be an exclusive look of the upcoming film release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”. (Yay!
) I think both the “Merlin” series premiere and the new Harry Potter footage is definitely worth checking out. Check your local listings on TVGuide.com to see when the series premiere of “Merlin” is playing in your area.
**UPDATE**
