82nd Annual Academy Awards Roundup

Source: Oscar.com

The 82nd Academy Awards were held on March 7, 2010. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were the hosts of the evening and those who were predicted to win, won.

The big winner of the night was “The Hurt Locker” winning 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, Kathryn Bigelow.

The night as a whole, in my opinion was not as entertaining as last year but it was a nice ceremony. The highlights of the evening were the opening number featuring Neil Patrick Harris, a performance by the League of Extraordinary Dancers featuring So You Think You Can Dance alumni, and finally the actor/actress speeches about the nominees in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. Oprah Winfrey talked about nominee Gabourey Sidibe which had her in tears (and me too). A very touching moment for the first time nominee for the breakout performance of the year.

Special kudos to Sandra Bullock nabbing the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the “The Blind Side”. What a way to cap off a great year for her!

  1. Summer

Matt Damon and Erin Fellows from Toronto , Canada have a 16 yr old beautiful daughter together. They met when he was scouting for locations for Good Will Hunting. They have kept it private but it has now leaked out and will be in the press shortly. She works at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto where coincidently he stays there during Film Festival. His daughter is the main reason for the move to New York. I wish them luck.
