All of the rumors and whispers have now been confirmed. The Verizon iPhone will be coming to a store near you in early February 2011. The big announcement was made today, January 11, 2011, at 11:11 a.m.
On Feb. 3, existing Verizon customers can preorder the iPhone 4 ahead of general availability. Everyone will be able to buy the phone on Feb. 10.
The price is $199.99 for 16 gigabytes of storage, $299.99 for 32 gigabytes. HotSync is included, which means that up to five Wi-Fi devices can tether to the phone and use its data connection.
Data plan pricing has not been established yet and the Verizon iPhone will be on their 3G CDMA network as opposed to their 4G LTE data network.
I find it interesting that Verizon has chosen to release the iPhone on their 3G network considering they just unveiled their new 4G network. I’m sure it is because 4G coverage is not widely available on most of the leading providers as of yet. Better a tested and stable network, than a work in progress.
