American Idol Season 9 kicked off the live performances on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The Top 12 Girls performed but most of the performances were conservative and lacked the “Wow” factor. The Top 12 Guys performed on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, however it seemed the guys had some nerves as well. Simon Cowell stated that he believed that this year’s winner will be a female contestant. I guess we shall see…
Some of the better female performances came from Katelyn Epperly and Katie Stevens. Katelyn sang “Oh! Darling” by The Beatles. The arrangement was very similar to the version from the movie “Across the Universe”. Katie sang “Feeling Good” in the style of Michael Bublé.
In terms of the guy’s performances, I thought the best performances came from Andrew Garcia and Casey James. Andrew sang an acoustic version of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and Casey sang Bryan Adam’s “Heaven”. Click on the link below to watch the performance highlights from the Top 24.
