American Idol Season 9 Top 4 Duets

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Season 9 Top 4 contestants tackled songs from the movies. The individual performances were ok borderline forgettable, but the the duets are where the contestants shined. Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze performed the Academy Award winning song, “Falling Slowing”, from the movie “Once”. American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi said it best when she said that it was “the best performance of the season”.

Casey Jones and Michael Lynch performed the song “Have you ever really loved a woman” by Bryan Adams from the movie “Don Juan”. Great guitar work by the guys and it was a solid duet. Click on the link below to watch their performance.

Adam Lambert to mentor Idol Contestants

Source: ABC News

**UPDATE 4/13/10: This week’s theme is Elvis Presley songs.**

Season 9 of “American Idol” has certainly been interesting. Unfortunately it isn’t for the contestants. Aside for a few stand out performers, this season has kind of been a bit dull. The product placements and show promotions have certainly out shined the contestants’ lime light which sadly strays away from the objective of the competition. Guest mentors were first introduced during Season 2 of American Idol, but as for this season – the mentors have been questionable. First it was Miley Cyrus but now Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert? Adam Lambert will be featured as the guest mentor on April 13, 2010, and he is scheduled to perform on the results show on April 14, 2010.

American Idol Season 9 – Top 24 Performance Highlights

American Idol Season 9 kicked off the live performances on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The Top 12 Girls performed but most of the performances were conservative and lacked the “Wow” factor. The Top 12 Guys performed on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, however it seemed the guys had some nerves as well. Simon Cowell stated that he believed that this year’s winner will be a female contestant. I guess we shall see…

Some of the better female performances came from Katelyn Epperly and Katie Stevens. Katelyn sang “Oh! Darling” by The Beatles. The arrangement was very similar to the version from the movie “Across the Universe”. Katie sang “Feeling Good” in the style of Michael Bublé.

In terms of the guy’s performances, I thought the best performances came from Andrew Garcia and Casey James. Andrew sang an acoustic version of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and Casey sang Bryan Adam’s “Heaven”. Click on the link below to watch the performance highlights from the Top 24. Allison Iraheta gets signed!

Source: Entertainment Weekly

It’s official! Allison Iraheta has been signed by 19/Jive, just like this year’s American Idol Winner: Kris Allen. Allison finished in 4th place just like past Idol alum, Chris Daughtry. Needless to say, Chris Daughtry and his band “Daughtry” has had phenomenal success with their self-titled debut album which has already sold over 5 million copies worldwide and their much anticipated second album, “Leave This Town”, hits stores on July 14, 2009. This season’s runner-up, Adam Lambert, has also been signed by 19/RCA. All three albums are expected to be released this Fall. Very exciting news for all three of them! I’m curious to hear how their albums will turn out.

Currently Kris, Adam, and Allison are on the American Idol Tour with the rest of the Top 13 contestants. Tour dates can be found here.
