Season 3 of “Chuck” hasn’t even started yet and the excitement level for the anticipated new season has just turned up a few notches with Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) joining the cast of “Chuck” for a multi-episode arc according to EW’s Michael Ausiello. Here is an excerpt from the exclusive scoop by Michael Ausiello:
“Routh’s character, Shaw, is a mysterious new spy who takes control as the new leader of Operation Bartwoski, becoming a mentor to Chuck and a rival in his affections for Sarah.”
**UPDATE: Check out the latest Season 3 “Chuck” casting here. HINT: It’s Super!**
Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly caught up with the cast of “Chuck” at the NBC Press Tour Party and the cast were a little on the “mum” side, but we can expect Season 3 to have a “Love Trapezoid”.
Also according to TV Guide, the possibility of ordering the back 9 episodes (13 episodes were ordered) is still a possibility. Read the full story here. Season 3 of “Chuck” is slated for March 2010. ::Sigh:: It seems so far away!
**UPDATE: Watch the “Chuck” Comic-Con Trailer that preceded the panel discussion here.**
Here is the “Chuck” panel discussion that took place at Comic Con. The panel included co-creators of “Chuck” Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz and almost all of the cast of “Chuck” including Zachary Levi (Chuck Bartowski), Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah Walker), Joshua Gomez (Morgan Grimes), and Adam Baldwin (John Casey).
**UPDATE: Chuck Panel Discussion Video from Comic-Con can be viewed here.**
What can we expect from Season 3 of Chuck? The “Chuck” panel recently dropped some hints at Comic-Con, which mildly sastifies some curiosity on what to expect for Season 3. **WARNING: LOOK AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE SEASON 2 FINALE OF CHUCK!** At the end of the Season 2 finale, Chuck downloads the new intersect to himself and with the “new” upgrades to the intersect – Chuck unleashes some kung-fu skills and kicks some serious butt in order to defeat the bad guys. Zachary Levi (Chuck) hinted that Chuck’s powers are temporary and they come and go with his flashes.
On the “Chuck-Fu”: Levi says Chuck can’t know kung fu all the time, or there’d be nothing for Casey and Sarah to do. So there’s a glitch in the system. When he flashes, he gets the powers, but then they’ll fade. Awesome will start to submerge into the spy world as well, given that he’s the only other dude who knows Chuck’s secret. Schwartz talked about playing with the idea of Casey and Ellie getting together, what with Awesome and Ellie being a little on the rocks. And Sarah’s sister Corinna will be coming back to the show. And Morgan will try once again. And fail once again. Or not.
Why would Casey and Ellie get together? Perhaps it could be more of a camaraderie than a romantic relationship. Co-creator Josh Schwartz also mentioned in the same post that there is a possibility that “Chuck” may be back earlier than expected. I guess we shall see. For now, the website Chuckmeout.com was created in order to help “Chuck” fans survive until the show starts up again. “Chuck” is slated to come back in March 2010 (ugh…so long!).
Michael Ausiello from EW.com recently interviewed Zachary Levi from “Chuck” on what to expect for their upcoming third season. With Subway being the major sponsor for “Chuck”, Levi shares how it will be incorporated into the show including the possibility of Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) working at a Subway instead of the Orange Orange. Levi also talks about the possibility of NBC picking up the back 9 episodes.

Chuck Fans unite! Chuck has been green-lit for Season 3! NBC will be announcing their formal Fall Schedule tomorrow, May 19, 2009, but Variety.com reports that “Chuck” will be back next season with 13 episodes and a smaller budget. According to Variety, the reason for the delay for Chuck’s renewal was solely based on cost-cutting issues. On the one hand, I am glad that “Chuck” will be back but on the other hand…I am sad to hear that it will be back for a shortened season. It kind of leads you to question if this will be Chuck’s last swan song, or will other shows follow the same lead in terms of cost cutting tactics. Read the full Variety article here. There is still hope though, according to TV by the numbers, NBC still has the option to pick up the back 9 episodes.
All in all, I am glad that NBC recognizes that “Chuck” has a great fanbase and that the way they left things in Season 2 is not the way that Chuck fans want to see things end (or at least that’s how this Chuck fan feels :-)). For now…it is time to rejoice as “Chuck” lives on for another season! Hooray! Check NBC’s upcoming shows website for the official word tomorrow, as the final schedule will be posted then.
NBC announces the official press release for Chuck’s renewal. Read it here. As part of an innovative marketing campaign, “Chuck” is back with Subway as their major sponsor. “Chuck” is set to come back after the Winter Olympics assuming the “Heroes” time slot. Here is the full Fall line-up for NBC.
Season 2 of Chuck has come to a close, and the fate of the show is still on the bubble. Today NBC announced their Fall 2009-2010 preview schedule, and Chuck is notably missing from the lineup, but the lineup is still not set in stone. There is still hope Chuck fans! NBC will reveal the full fall schedule on May 19, 2009. While the powers that be at NBC are still deciding over the fate of Chuck. I thought it would be fun to speculate what Season 3 would be like. What can the New Intersect do? Will Chuck go back to the Buy More? Will Chuck and Sarah get together? Will Morgan come back?
