According to the Ausiello Files, the Fox Network might be planning a crossover event between “Bones” and “Lie to Me”. I think this is a clever idea. “Bones” will be heading into its 5th season while “Lie to Me” will start its 2nd season this Fall. What a great way to add ratings to both shows!
If you could concoct a crossover event (with Fox shows), what would it be? I think it would be interesting to work in “American Idol” with “Glee”. In Season 3 of “Bones”, former Idol contestant Ace Young, had a guest spot on the show. The episode title was “The Wannabe in the Weeds”, where Young played an aspiring singer. It was “American Idol” meets “Bones”, a pseudo crossover event if you will. At the end of the episode, Emily Deschanel who plays Dr. Temperance Brennan on “Bones”, sings “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.

Remember that 80’s movie about a girl who wants to become a regular on “Dance TV”? Hint: Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and Shannen Doherty starred in the film.
That’s right! It’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”. Did Cyndi Lauper’s song just flash into your head? Well it definitely will as “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is getting remade. An article from Variety.com reports that Miley Cyrus is rumored to be cast as the lead. I’m not sure how I feel about this yet. Sarah Jessica Parker has a background in dance, so I don’t know if the remake will concentrate on dancing or maybe they will try to spin it into a singing/karaoke competition.
Does this mean that Miley is leaving “Hannah Montana”? At least not for now, as the Disney Channel has renewed “Hannah Montana” for a fourth season. I mentioned in an earlier post, “Footloose” is also getting remade with Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford. I wonder if this is the start of a trend – to remake 80’s “dance” themed movies. Will “Flashdance” be next? Only time will time…
For now…if it weren’t stuck in your head already…watch the original music video of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.
The next American Idol is…Kris Allen! The Dark Horse wins American Idol Season 8! The finale was full of performances and Golden Idol segments and after 2 hours of endorsements, the 10 seconds reserved for the results were finally revealed. Congratulations to Kris Allen!
As far as the rest of the night, there were some great duets that I enjoyed. Allison and Cyndi Lauper’s duet of “Time After Time”, Kris and Keith Urban performing “Kiss a the Girl”, and Adam and the band Kiss performed song medleys which were the highlight performances of the evening. The Top 13 contestants returned to the stage and had a couple of group performances, including a performance of “I’m Yours” with Jason Mraz himself.
Kris closes the show with “No Boundaries” and performs it 1o times better than the night before. I admit it…I have watched every season of “American Idol” and this is my observation when it comes to the coronation song. I feel like when someone wins “American Idol”, no matter how cheesy the lyrics are for the coronation song…the winner really seems to “believe” in what they are singing and it propels them to sing better. It is those moments that make TV magic!
And so the confetti falls…

It’s finally here! It has been a long journey and last night the final two gave it their all in night one of the two-night season finale of American Idol. This season has had its shocking moments (i.e. the early departure of Alexis Grace) but all of that has been said and done and the battle for the title of the next “American Idol” is down to the Frontrunner (Adam Lambert) vs. The Dark Horse (Kris Allen).
From the beginning Adam Lambert has been the considered the front runner of Season 8 and all of the judges slated Adam to have a one way ticket to the finals. Kris Allen on the other hand has slowly emerged as one to watch as his “artistic” performances from week to week has shown great progression during the course of this competition.
Last week, Kris Allen won the coin toss and chose to sing second. Each contestant performed 3 songs. Their favorite song of the season, a song chosen by Simon Fuller (Creator of American Idol), and an original song: “No Boundaries” co-written by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.
