Summer is almost over, but don’t be sad! It just means that Fall 2011-2012 Television programming will return soon! So mark your calendars and take note of when your favorite returning and new shows premiere on CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, and ABC.
Some new and highly anticipated shows to note are ABC’s “Once Upon a Time”, CW’s “Ringer” with Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), “Person of Interest” on CBS, and Fox’s “X-Factor” and “New Girl” starring Zooey Deschanel.
This year also marks the final seasons for NBC’s “Chuck”, and ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”. So what shows are you looking forward to watching? Thus far, I find ABC’s new Fall Series line-up to be the most intriguing.
Summer is over and now our favorite shows are returning back to the prime time line up. Looks like most shows are returning the week of September 19th including Dancing with the Stars, Chuck, Castle, House, Glee, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, and the final season of Smallville.
With every Fall season also brings on new series some of which have already started. The series premieres of Hellcats and Nikita began the week of Labor Day. Both shows have potential and even though it is early, I think Hellcats can develop into a show that could be as popular as Glee or at least will draw audiences from other genre shows like Make It or Break It. Other series premieres that I’m looking forward to are The Event, Chase, Lone Star, Undercovers, Outsourced, and No Ordinary Family.

Last night, August 18, 2009, was the premiere of “Shaq vs.” on ABC. This show is exactly like that Gatorade commercial with Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm. In a game of “anything you can do, I can do better”, NBA player Shaquille O’Neal challenges other professional athletes at their own sport. The series premiere pitted Shaq against Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in order to determine the better quarterback. The series premiere of “Shaq vs.” was quite hilarious! There is no question that Shaq is a big guy standing at 7’1″ so I think this will be quite an interesting show to watch. With egos and reputations on the line, it is amazing how the competitive nature of these athletes are unleashed.

Season 1 of “Legend of the Seeker” has come to a close and summer reruns has commenced. Before the 2nd season starts, I thought this would be a good time to go through the season as a whole and how it relates to the book. Season One is based upon the first book, “Wizard’s First Rule”, of the “Sword of Truth” series by Terry Goodkind. While the show has taken some creative liberties, for the most part…I feel the core of the book is well adapted to the small screen. For those who haven’t read “Wizard’s First Rule”, this post is chock full of spoilers. I am going to try to relate the book to the relevant episodes on the show. Some of the questions that I will answer in this Book vs. Show rundown are: Is Darken Rahl really dead? Are Darken Rahl and Richard Cypher brothers? Finally…my thoughts on what to expect for Season 2 of “Legend of the Seeker”.
